Video and Sound Production: Final Project
Final Project: Stop Motion
For our final task, Mr. Martin instructed everyone to pair up since it is a two-person assignment. I partnered with Amirah and discussed our stop-motion ideas together.
After brainstorming, researching, and so on, initially, upon reviewing examples Mr. Martin had shown, we considered using clay with cardboard as our backdrop. However, after extensive discussions and creating a pros and cons list, we opted for Play-Doh because it is easier to mold than regular clay due to its oily and soft consistency. We purchased the Play-Doh from Shopee and were satisfied with our decision.

Figure 2.1 Isolation Coloring
Notes:
I had used the leave color element to show the lonely and depressed life of Ginji (black and white) and after he saw Ella at the park he found his motivation to live and it gave him hope. The color resembles the true motivation of the character and how it impacts him.
Figure 2.2 Isolation Coloring
Notes:
The used of transitions help to guide viewers understand the flow without the abrupt of change.
Figure 2.3 Filter
Notes:
I had used the SL Clean Kodak C filter but adjusting a lot of try-and-error with color grading as I want it to appear light but colorful.

Final Outcome
Reflection
Looking back, this assignment was enjoyable, albeit time-consuming. Every second in the film-making process is crucial as each step contributes to a smoother final product. As a first-timer in stop-motion, the experience was challenging due to my lack of prior knowledge. However, partnering with my friend enhanced the process, allowing us to discuss drawbacks and conflicts.
We encountered difficulties, particularly with lighting, as we worked on different days and had to share lighting resources with others. This resulted in inconsistencies, which we recognize as a flaw. Nevertheless, the making of this film provided valuable learning experiences. It was fascinating to step into the shoes of filmmakers and gain a deep respect for those who choose this field, given the strenuous effort and patience required to achieve perfection. Although our film didn't unfold entirely as planned, the lessons learned from our mistakes are invaluable.
